Electrical Systems

The Electrical System module allows you to design and model electrical wiring and cable layouts within a building or system. You can connect appliances, lights, and power distribution elements using various wire and cable components. The module supports material definitions, connection logic, and hierarchical structures like conduits or grouped cables.

Wire and Cable Structure

Electrical wires are composed of:

• Two electrical joints at each end.
• A core material that conducts electricity.
• An insulation material added as a child element for safety and protection.

Electrical cables also connect between two electrical joints, but instead of a single conductive core, they are made of multiple individual wires, each insulated separately. A cable has:

• Several embedded electrical wires.
• An overall insulation layer around all wires for safety and structure.

  • Add Wire — Insert a single electrical wire used to connect appliances or components.
  • Add Cable — Add a bundled set of wires for carrying multiple electrical signals or power lines.
  • Add Electrical Conduit — Place a protective conduit to route wires or cables through the structure.
